All That Jazz Café & Grill located in Sunrise, FL, is more than just a place for jazz lovers. This popular spot offers live music every Friday and Saturday from 6:30 - 11:00 p.m. and make sure you arrive early because this place fills up almost instantly.
All That Jazz has bands playing Classic Jazz, Pop Hits, music from Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean and more. The menu has food choices from seafood, tacos, pastas, chicken parmigiana, sandwiches, salads and more. All That Jazz Café & Grill also offers specialty beers and a wine bar.
While you wait for your meal, listen and groove along to the relaxing jazz to keep you entertained. While I was there, the family and I met Michael Kolber, who is the owner, who also happens to be a music teacher and the chef. Kolber mentioned that some of the waiters and waitresses are actually students of his.
Jazz (We’ve Got)
All That Jazz is also a music school for all ages. The music school states on their website that “We are committed to getting you playing or singing the music YOU want to play or sing, or to the skill-level YOU wish to attain, by using a teaching method built on solid fundamentals, with a customized delivery method designed to fit YOUR individual needs and preferred learning style.”
When I posted about this on Instagram (@NileFortner), I was surprised to hear how my friend and supporter Lynda Archer knew of this place. Archer, who I’ve known since our days as Broward College film classes, says her daughters took classes here. Her daughters, Shanice and Myriah, can be found on social media (@TheMixedRoyalty), composing R&B and pop hits.
Kolber is a musician himself, and has played in various clubs in New York and playing professionally. Kolber preps the food as well, with the help of his brother and sister-in-law.
Kolber mentioned how the food is made with ingredients that are good for you and made from scratch. The food is really good, especially the Calamari & Shrimp Italian Style which comes with some of the best garlic bread I’ve ever tasted.
The menu also has some Louisiana style food choices such as the Bourbon Street BBQ Shrimp, which is BBQ shrimp simmered in a unique spicy-peppery-butter sauce. One bite and you will be hooked, and served with bread for soaking up the sauce. The menu choices are limitless and it honestly took me awhile to figure what I wanted to eat, because everything looks and sounds so delicious.
All their desserts are prepared on premise using their own original recipes. They are prepared totally from scratch. The Brownie Ice Cream Sundae Explosion a giant square of our warm homemade brownie topped with 3 scoops of vanilla ice cream, chocolate-fudge sauce, caramel sauce and whipped cream. I’m going to have that next time.
I had some of the key lime pie and the dark chocolate cheesecake. I really love the presentations of the food and desserts. I dig the key lime pie being in a martini glass. It’s a good portion size, not to big, and it’s fun.
All That Jazz Café & Grill has more than just the jazz. It has great music, a great atmosphere, and some of the best local food in Sunrise, FL, I’ve ever tasted. I can’t wait to visit this place again and this is a place I would recommend and take anybody. All That Jazz deserves an encore.
